Ambles Revenge
Ambles Revenge is an annual multi terrain race held around Oxspring, Sheffield between Christmas and New Year. The course is 8 miles long with over 1,200 ft of ascent and runs in a clockwise direction from the Trans Pennine Trail at Oxspring to Green Moor and back. It combines cross country, road and fell sections across farmers' fields, quiet country lanes and woodland, and includes many stiles.
The route is undulating and includes muddy and wet underfoot sections in typical winter weather; wind and exposed upper sections have been noted in recent years. The course is well marked and supported by marshals positioned along the route. The event holds a race licence with the Trail Runners Association and the entry is limited to 350 places. Entry fees are shown as £14.00 for affiliated runners and £16.00 for unaffiliated runners.
Race headquarters are at the Waggon & Horses on Sheffield Road, Oxspring S36 8YQ. Facilities listed for the event do not include toilets, water stations, distance markers, changing rooms, showers or baggage storage. The event is not suitable for wheelchairs. Age-category prizes are awarded across multiple male and female veteran and senior categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
