Amble's Revenge : event overview
Amble's Revenge is a winter trail race held around Christmas or New Year, scheduled for 28 December 2025 in Oxspring, Sheffield. The event is run over approximately 8 miles (about 7¾ miles / 12.5 km) with substantial ascent reported; sources list around 1,200–1,500 ft (approximately 450 m) of climb. The course is mainly off-road and described as a mixture of cross country, road and fell terrain. The route starts and finishes in Oxspring, passes through Green Moor and is run in a clockwise direction. The race uses chip timing and provides a gift for all entrants. The minimum age to enter is 17.
Course, entry and facilities
The course crosses farmers’ fields, quiet country lanes, woodland and many stiles, and is undulating throughout. Weather is often poor and wet, with muddy sections and exposed upper parts reported in recent years. The event has an entry limit of 350 and has sold out in recent years; for 2025 the race is shown as full. The race is organised under Trail Running Association / UK Athletics competition rules. Race headquarters is at the Waggon & Horses, Sheffield Road, Oxspring, S36 8YQ. Facilities at the event include toilets only; there are no water stations, distance markers, changing facilities, showers or baggage storage.
