Event Overview
The Amazing Preservation Race is an urban scavenger hunt-style event organized by the City's Office of Historic Preservation. It takes place in historic downtown San Antonio.
Event Format
Teams of four people follow clues and complete challenges to fill a passport. The goal is to be the first team to cross the finish line with a completed passport. The activity involves moving between secret locations by foot only; the use of scooters or rideshares is not allowed. Participants should expect to cover approximately 3 miles of running or walking.
Clues and Challenges
The clues and challenge locations are based on San Antonio's history and architecture. Participants may use their cell phones to help decipher clues and complete tasks. Team costumes are encouraged, and a prize is awarded for the best costume.
Registration and Prizes
Registration is priced per person. Prizes are awarded to the top three finishing teams, as well as for the best costume and best team spirit. Top prizes include staycations.
Venue and Logistics
The event starts at Legacy Park at 103 W Houston. Parking is available at City Tower Garage on 117 W Commerce, as well as other downtown locations. Water and restrooms are provided on-site. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
