Amazing Preservation Race in San Antonio
The City’s Office of Historic Preservation organizes an urban scavenger hunt through historic downtown San Antonio on May 8, 2026. Teams of four follow clues and complete challenges to fill a passport; the first team to reach the finish with a completed passport is the winner. Challenges and clue locations highlight San Antonio history and architecture.
Registration is tiered by date: $20 per person ($80 per team) through April 8, then $30 per person ($120 per team) from April 9 through May 7. Team gear provided on the day includes a buff for each member and team bibs. Water and restrooms will be available on site. Paid parking is available at City Tower Garage, 117 W Commerce; additional downtown parking options are listed by the city.
Participants should expect to run or walk about 3 miles while moving between challenge locations. Racers may use cell phones to decipher clues and complete tasks. No transportation beyond walking or running is allowed. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, best costume, and best team spirit; top prizes include staycations.
