Race to Remember : Alzheimer's Charity Race 5k and 1 Mile Walk

The Albemarle Rotary Club organizes the Race to Remember, a community running and walking event held at Stanly County YMCA Park in Albemarle, North Carolina. The event includes multiple participation options and a mapped course that passes through historic downtown Albemarle and adjacent neighborhoods.

Proceeds and donations are directed to Alzheimer’s and dementia research through Rotary’s nonprofit C.A.R.T. (Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust). Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group (0-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+).

Distances and participation options:

  • 5k Run Walk
  • 1 Mile Fun Walk/Run
  • Virtual Run/Walk 5k with shirt and mailing

Parking is available near Y Park, at Hartsell Funeral Home (522 N. Second St.), and in the lot across from the pavilion. Race shirts are tied to registration timing: registering by June 5 ensures a shirt on race day; late registrants may pick up shirts at Uwharrie Dash or have them mailed for a fee. Race packet pickup is scheduled at Uwharrie Dash, 154 South First Street, Albemarle, with additional pickup on race morning.
