52nd Annual Almond Bowl

The Almond Bowl is an established running event held in the lower Bidwell Park area of Chico, California. This annual event serves as a fundraiser for local high school cross-country teams and band programs. The courses follow a flat, fast loop through newly paved sections of the park. Participants start on South Park Drive and finish near Sycamore Field.

The event offers two distinct distances:

  • 5 km (3.1 miles)
  • 10 km (6.2 miles)

Participants receive a race shirt, a race bib, and post-race snacks as part of their registration. Shirts are guaranteed for those who register by a specific date in October, with a limited number of extra shirts available on a first-come, first-served basis during packet pickup or after the race. Cash prizes are awarded to the top male and female finishers in both the 5 km and 10 km races. Additionally, awards are provided to the top three finishers in various age group categories for each gender.

The courses include multiple aid stations providing water. The 10 km route features three aid stations, while the 5 km route includes two. Restroom facilities are available at several locations along the course and at the start and finish areas. Race timing is conducted using chips, though top finisher awards are determined by gun time. For safety, pets are not permitted on the course, and participants with strollers are required to start at the back of the group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
