About the race
Allithwaite 8 is the 10th edition of a local trail race based at Allithwaite Community Centre, Quarry Lane, Allithwaite LA11 7QJ. The course covers around 8 miles / 13 km over trail, fell and quiet roads on the Cartmel peninsula and the edge of the Lake District. The route is well marked and marshalled.
The event supports local projects, with a large part of proceeds going to the local school, community centre and other community initiatives. Entrants receive a special 10th edition item, and prizes are awarded to the first three open men and women, with cash and local food and drink, plus prizes for veterans and under 18s.
Practical notes: minimum age is 16 on race day, with parental consent required for under 18s. Kit requirements include hat, gloves and full body cover or waterproofs; off-road shoes are recommended. Toilets and refreshments are available at race HQ, and water is provided at the finish so competitors should bring a cup. Dogs are not allowed on the course or in the Community Centre. Limited free parking is available close to the venue and organisers encourage car sharing or alternative transport. No entries are taken on the day.
