Allerton Park Trail Run, Monticello IL
The Allerton Park Trail Run takes place at Robert Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello on October 25, 2026. The event program includes a trail race, a nature walk, and a virtual race option. A portion of proceeds is donated to Allerton Park for trail maintenance and park enhancements.

Much of the 5.7 mile course follows the Sangamon River and features varied terrain. Runners may encounter hidden roots, ruts, sharp turns, and other obstacles. The race finishes in the meadow area where participants can gather after the event. Costumes are encouraged because the race is close to Halloween; door prizes and costume contest prizes will be awarded.
The in-person 2 mile nature walk is non-competitive and does not receive awards. The 5.7 mile trail run has awards for overall top finishers and masters, plus age group awards given to the top three men and women in these brackets: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over. Virtual entrants are not eligible for age-group awards; virtual results can be entered from October 25 through October 31, 2026.
Race packets, including long-sleeve shirts, are available for pickup at Body n' Sole Sports in Savoy on October 23 and October 24, and on race day at Allerton Park. To guarantee a shirt, register by October 14, 2026. Volunteers are needed. For safety, no dogs are allowed on the trail run or the nature walk.
