Alf Shrubb Memorial - 10k & 5k
The Alf Shrubb Memorial Races return to Slinfold on Sunday 13 September 2026. The event comprises trail races through the West Sussex countryside and a programme of children’s races based at Slinfold Cricket Club, which serves as event headquarters and the finish area on the cricket pitch.
Races and formats:
- 10k : two laps finishing at Slinfold Cricket Club
- 5k : one lap on a similar scenic route
- Children’s races : a 5–7 year-old race at the cricket club and a one-mile race for ages 8–11 with the Inter-Schools Challenge Trophy
All adult races are chip timed. The course uses local footpaths, bridleways and trails. A professionally led warm-up takes place on the cricket field before runners move to the start line. Free parking is planned with details issued in advance and the village is accessible from the Downs Link.
Facilities and awards include refreshments, homemade cakes, a fully licensed bar, additional ladies-only toilets and a bespoke replica Alf Shrubb medal for all finishers. Awards are presented to top male and female finishers, age-group winners and top Slinfold residents. The event raises funds for local community organisations, and a pair of Alf Shrubb’s running shoes will be on display at the cricket club on race day.
