Alderman's Ascent
Alderman's Ascent is a fell race held in Greenfield that marks its tenth year in 2026. The event will serve as a counter race for the English Fell Running Championship 2026 and draws competitors from across the country. For 2026 the event base moves from the Rugby Club to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road, Greenfield, located opposite the start line.
The senior course is approximately 8.5 km long with over 400 m of climbing. The route passes the Pots and Pans monument and reaches Shaw Rocks as its highest point before returning toward Alderman's Hill. The course features a long technical downhill section followed by a prolonged uphill to the shoulder of Alderman's Hill and then a run back to the finish.
The race is run under Fell Runners Association rules and is classified as an AS race. FRA mandatory kit requirements will be confirmed on the day; competitors are advised to bring full kit that meets FRA guidance.
Organisers maintain past race results and photos from previous years. Volunteer marshals are welcomed and are offered race credit for future events when they are able to participate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
