Alderman's Ascent
Alderman's Ascent is a fell race in Greenfield, Oldham, run under Fell Runners Association rules and classed as an AS race. The senior course covers 8.5 km with around 400 m of ascent and follows classic fell terrain rather than marked trail.
The route visits the Pots and Pans monument, reaches its highest point at Shaw Rocks, then returns toward Alderman’s Hill where runners face a long technical descent followed by a substantial climb to the hill shoulder and a final run back to the finish. A 2026 change of venue moves the event to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road in Greenfield, located opposite the start line.
Entry options include pre-entry via SiEntries and entry on the day. Pre-entry fees are listed for members and non members, and an on the day fee is charged. Teams are permitted. The race requires compliance with FRA rules; mandatory kit for the category may be confirmed on the day and participants are advised to follow FRA kit requirements.
