Alderman's Ascent
Alderman's Ascent will mark its tenth anniversary in 2026 and will act as a counter race for the English Fell Running Championship 2026. The event moves its base from the Rugby Club to the Satellite Centre on Wellington Road in Greenfield, located opposite the start line.
The course covers 8.5 km with over 400 m of climb. The route passes the 'Pots and Pans' monument and reaches Shaw Rocks, the highest point, before returning toward Alderman's Hill. The profile includes a long technical downhill section followed by a sustained uphill to the shoulder of Alderman's Hill and a final run back to the finish.
The race is classed as an AS event under Fell Runners Association rules. FRA mandatory kit requirements for AS races will be confirmed on the day, and entrants are advised to be prepared to meet the full FRA kit list.
Volunteer marshals are used at the event. Marshals receive race credit to use at future races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
