Course

The Alderley Edge 10k is run on a 10 km out-and-back course. It starts at Alderley Park North Gates and heads onto the Melrose Way section of the A34 bypass, turning at the Wilmslow end of the bypass before returning to the finish. The course features smooth tarmac and takes place on fully closed roads surrounded by the Cheshire countryside and farmland.

Facilities and Event Information

The event is licensed by UK Athletics. Entry includes a bespoke medal for all finishers and an optional recycled RonHill technical finishers t-shirt (with an opt-out option where a donation is made to charity instead). The race uses chip timing.

Pacers are available from 35 to 80 minutes. There are also km markers, a drinks station at the halfway point and finish, toilets, first aid, a bag drop, and post-race food. Free parking is available near Race HQ, and there is free baggage storage.

Other features include live music and entertainment every kilometre along the route.

Results and Prizes

Results are available immediately online, and participants can receive a text message with their results as they cross the finish line if they provide a mobile number during entry. Prizes are awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers based on gun time. Veteran prizes are awarded in all age groups from V35 to V80+ in 5-year increments, plus a first U20 prize, based on chip times. All prizes are equal for males and females.

Practical Information

The race headquarters is at the Glasshouse in Alderley Park (SK10 4TG). The minimum age for entry is 15 years. Entry fees are £32 for club runners and £34 for non-club runners. Entries close when the limit is reached or at midnight the night before the race; there are no entries on the day.

Participants who can no longer attend can transfer their place to another person or switch to a virtual race option. Bottled water is provided at aid stations, supplied from a responsible, zero-landfill company using bottles made from 51% recycled plastic. The event's official charity is Move Against Cancer.
