Albuquerque Museum Dash
The Albu-Quirky Run 8K, 5K, and Kids K is a community sports event held in the heart of Old Town Albuquerque, New Mexico. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, supporting art, history, and culture through educational programs and exhibitions. The start and finish areas are located directly in front of the Albuquerque Museum, adjacent to Tiguex Park and within walking distance of the Explora Science Center and Children's Museum.
Participants can choose from several event distances and formats:
- 5K Run: A timed race utilizing gun start and chip finish timing.
- 1-Mile Walk: A non-timed walking event.
- Kids K: A non-timed run for children aged 11 and under.
The 5K course has a strict completion time limit of 1 hour and 20 minutes due to traffic control permit requirements. Timing chips are attached to the race bibs, which must be worn on the front of the body and remain visible throughout the event. For the 5K, awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 12 and under to 80+. Participants in the non-timed 1-Mile Walk and Kids K receive recognition for their participation.
The course includes fluid replacement stations providing water and sports drinks. Strollers are permitted provided the child is registered for a rider bib and the participant starts at the back of the pack. Dogs, skateboards, and rollerblades are not allowed on the course.
