Event Overview

The Albany Move'n'Groove 2026 is a 5K community event combined with a live music festival. The event offers several options for participation: a 5K Run or Walk, a 5K Stroller category, a 5K Para Athlete category, and a Half-Mile Kids Race for children aged 10 and under.

The Course

The 5K course is a flat, looped route circling Albany's Memorial Park and Albany High School. The course will be closed to traffic. Participants run or walk six laps around the block and are responsible for counting their own laps. The pavement is described as smooth and free of potholes. The course distance is not USATF certified, but GPS data indicates it is a little longer than a standard 5K. The kids' race is a single half-mile loop on the same course.

The Atmosphere

A key feature of the event is multiple live bands playing a variety of music genres at locations around the course until noon. There may be on-site food vendors. After the main events, attendees are welcome to skate or scooter recreationally on the closed streets and sidewalks to enjoy the music. Only human-powered scooters are allowed.

Registration & Logistics

Registration is required only for participants in the 5K events or the kids race. There is no fee for spectators who want to watch the races or listen to the bands. Packet pickup is scheduled for the Saturday before the event at Road Runner Sports in Berkeley. T-shirts are available for separate purchase.
