Both distances start and finish at the Mile 0 Trailhead near the Mount Vernon Estate entrance and the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Courses follow the paved Mount Vernon Trail alongside the Potomac River on out-and-back routes. Turnaround locations are clearly marked with signage and volunteers to guide participants.
