The Event
The AJ Bell Great South 5k is a running event scheduled for Saturday, 17 October 2026. It marks the start of the Great South Run weekend. The route is described as fast and flat, and takes place in Portsmouth. The event website notes 99% of participants from its series would recommend the race.
The Course
The course starts on Clarence Esplanade. Runners proceed towards Southsea Common, head north through the common and along Serpentine Road. The route then turns east onto Lady's Mile, exits left onto Jack Cockerill Way, and joins South Parade before merging onto Eastney Esplanade. A U-turn point is located just before the Coffee Cup, after which runners return along Eastney Esplanade and drop onto Clarence Esplanade for the finish. The event promises views across the Solent and sea air.
Participant Information
Participants must be aged 14 or over on event day. A booking fee of £3.00 per entry is applied at checkout. Entry prices are listed as a Saver Entry (£27) and Final Entry (£30).
What's Included
Finishers receive a bespoke medal. An optional event day t-shirt is available; participants can choose to forgo it, with a portion of the fulfilment costs being donated to the National Trust Woodlands Appeal. A finisher's bag with goodies is also provided. Official event day photos are available for purchase after the race.
