The race is a fundraiser for Aid Via Action, a 501(c)(3) organization that delivers surgical care to Northern Guatemala. The stated mission is to reduce disparities in surgical and global health by strengthening local resources so physicians in Northern Guatemala can provide care with competence and compassion. Live entertainment is planned for the morning of the event.
Details
The in-person 5K is a chip-timed event using disposable timing chips attached to bibs. A virtual option allows participants to complete the 5K at any location; race shirts and finisher medals for virtual entrants are mailed after the event. The minimum age to participate in the 5K is 6 years. Course rules include no pets on the course and a prohibition on scooters, roller or inline skates, and bicycles; strollers are permitted. Awards are offered for Overall winners, Masters and Grand Masters by gender, and age-group prizes in 10-year increments from 15 and under through 80+. Entry fees are non-refundable; the organizer reserves the right to modify, postpone, or cancel the event for safety or other production concerns.
