Against the Tide Hopkinton and Associated Events
Against the Tide is a family-friendly, multi-sport event that benefits the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition. It runs rain or shine and includes swim, run, and walk components offered in in-person and virtual formats. The in-person events take place in Hopkinton (June 20) and Brewster, Cape Cod (June 27), and a virtual event window runs June 20 to June 27.
Funds raised support MBCC community education programs, the MBCC Webinar Series, and a student environmental health program called Let’s Talk Prevention: Actions You Can Take. Participants may create or join teams during registration, and fundraising pages are available; new teams cannot be created after registration is complete.
Race distances include:
- 5K run/walk
- 10K run/walk
Practical notes from the organizer: refunds are not allowed; minors under 18 require parent or guardian authorization and a signed Release and Indemnity Agreement; wetsuits are permitted; no pets are allowed on the beach except service animals; bibs are picked up at on-site registration the morning of each event. Walk-in registration is accepted on the morning of events, and in-person sites may have limited internet connectivity so cash transactions could be needed. Registered in-person participants by June 1 are entered into a Cape Cod excursion drawing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
