Event overview

The AdventHealth Nighthawk Trail Run is scheduled for February 7, 2026 at Colt Creek State Park in Lakeland, FL. It is an evening trail running event with loop courses on park trails offered in multiple formats: a 5K, a 10K, and a 15K challenge that combines both races back-to-back. Packet pickup will take place at Colt Creek State Park. Maps are listed as coming soon.

Distances

  • Night Owl 5K (3.1 miles)
  • Coyote 10K (6.2 miles)
  • Nighthawk 15K Challenge (both the 5K and 10K run back-to-back; registration for the challenge must be done via the Nighthawk Challenge Bundle to be eligible for the bonus medal)

Course, safety and logistics

Courses are looped on existing unpaved park trails. The organizer notes that trails may include soft sand, standing water, mud, rocks, roots, and wildlife. Strollers, baby joggers, and pets are prohibited on the courses. All runners in the 5K event are required to wear a battery-powered headlamp. The event uses chip timing and the course is described as accurately measured and well marked.

Awards and amenities

Participants receive a race T-shirt and finisher medal; completing the Nighthawk Challenge awards an additional bonus medal. Awards are given three deep in five-year age groups and include top overall and top masters recognitions. Post-race food and drinks are provided. Volunteer positions are available to staff aid stations and other race functions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
