Above the Clouds Ultra
The Above the Clouds Ultra takes place October 3, 2026 in Woodland Park, Colorado, with race distances of 50k and 10k. The course begins at Merit Academy in the “City Above the Clouds” and climbs Lovell Gulch to the Rampart Range Road. Runners follow Rampart Range Road south with extended views of Pikes Peak, then run counterclockwise around the singletrack at Rampart Reservoir and connect to the 700.A National Forest trail. The route continues north on quiet National Forest roads with broad mountain panoramas before descending the second half of the Lovell Gulch Loop back to Merit Academy.

The 50k lists an elevation gain of 4,137 feet; the 10k lists 1,126 feet. Aid stations are staged along the courses and are described as well stocked with Tailwind, Muir Energy Gels, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, and soda; many aid stations also offer warm options such as bacon, quesadillas, and potatoes. Crewing is permitted only at designated crew-accessible aid stations for 50k runners; pacing is prohibited. The Dam aid station is beyond a pay station with a $10 entry fee. Merit Academy provides parking with direction from a parking attendant and hosts the start/finish on the school track.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before and the morning of the event. Registration closes September 30, 2026 and entries include a gender-specific race shirt, personalized bib and finishers’ award, and a post-race meal. The event is located in Pike National Forest.
