Event Overview
A Pot of Gold Shared Half Marathon and 5K is an athletic event organized by the Mahaska County Sheriff's Reserves. The event serves as a fundraiser, with proceeds supporting scholarships for male and female runners as well as various reserve funding projects within Mahaska County. The race route explores the area around Oskaloosa, utilizing both paved paths and public roads.
Course Details
The race takes place primarily on the Mahaska County Recreation Trail. The course follows a path that circles the city of Oskaloosa and includes several hilly sections. While much of the route stays on the dedicated recreation trail, participants will also run on a small portion of city streets. The start and finish lines are located near the Lacey Complex Stadium, a central location designed to accommodate participant parking.
Distances and Participation
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 13 miles (Half Marathon)
- 3.1 miles (5K)
Recognition and Amenities
All participants who complete their respective distances receive a finisher medal. Additionally, medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age division for both the half marathon and the 5K. T-shirts are provided based on availability for those who register before the mid-February order deadline. Packet pick-up is hosted at the Emergency Management Agency Building the evening before the event or at the start line on the morning of the races.
