VICTORY LANE BACKYARD 12
VICTORY LANE BACKYARD 12 is a backyard ultra held on August 29, 2026 in Bussey, IA at 2308 Victory Lane. The format requires runners to complete repeated laps of 4.167 mile around a loop; each lap must be finished within 60 minutes and the event has a race cap of 12 hours.
Runners must return to the starting corral at the top of each hour to begin the next lap or they are disqualified. Three, two, and one minute warnings will be given before the hour. Participants may not leave the course during a lap except to use the restroom. Spectators, crew, eliminated runners, and pacers are not allowed on the course while laps are in progress. Personal running aids such as trekking poles are not permitted. Slower runners are expected to allow faster runners to pass.
The course starts and finishes at the barn and is primarily grass with some gravel; runners should expect roots, rocks, uneven surfaces, and a possibility of water on the trail. Snacks will be available at the starting corral and at an aid station. Upon completing a lap, participants may receive aid from their crew in the corral area.
Crew space will be located east of the barn, with room for tents or canopies and parking in designated areas; electricity access is limited. Early packet pick up is available Friday, there is a mandatory pre race meeting on race day, and crews may set up Saturday morning. Registration pricing increases on May 1 and again on August 1; a t-shirt add on of $25 is available for registrations prior to the August 1 increase. No refunds or transfers. The listed registration price is $87.76 USD. The winner is the last runner to complete one more lap than any other competitor; all other participants receive results reported as distance covered or laps completed.
