VICTORY LANE BACKYARD 12
This is a backyard ultra held at 2308 Victory Lane in Bussey, IA. Runners complete repeated laps of 4.167 miles each hour. Completing 12 laps equals 50 miles; the event has a 12 hour race cap.
Each lap must be finished within 60 minutes. Runners must return to the starting corral by the top of the hour or they are disqualified; three, two, and one minute warnings will be given. Participants may leave the course only to use the restroom while on a lap. Spectators, crew, eliminated runners, pacers, and personal aids such as trekking poles are not allowed on the course. Slower runners must allow others to pass.
Between laps, participants may receive aid from their crew in a designated crew area near the barn. The winner is the last person to complete an extra lap compared to all others; all other participants receive results reported as distance covered or laps completed. If no runner completes one more lap than everyone else, there is no winner.
The course begins and ends at a barn and runs mostly on grass with some gravel. Runners can expect roots, rocks, uneven surfaces, and possible water on the trail. Snacks will be available at the starting corral and at an aid station.
Early packet pickup is available before race day. Registration uses three pricing tiers with increases on May 1 and August 1; a t-shirt add-on is available for $25 prior to the August price increase. No refunds or transfers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
