9/11 Heroes Run - Harrisburg
The 9/11 Heroes Run is a community athletic event held at the Harrisburg Area Community College campus in Pennsylvania. This event focuses on honoring the individuals from the September 11 attacks as well as veterans, active duty military personnel, first responders, and families of the fallen. The gathering serves to unite the local community through physical activity and remembrance.
The event offers several participation options covering two primary distances:
- 5K Run or Ruck
- 1 Mile Run/Walk
Participants can choose between traditional running categories or rucking divisions. Rucking is a discipline derived from special forces training where individuals complete the course while carrying a weighted rucksack. Through a partnership with GORUCK, those registered for the rucking division receive an exclusive event patch.
The 5K and 1 Mile courses are open to individuals and families regardless of their specific fitness experience. Specific registration categories are available for the general public as well as discounted rates for active duty military members and first responders. The 1-mile segment is specifically designated as the Cpl Dane Freedman 1-Mile Run/Walk. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
