9/11 Heroes Run - Cape Girardeau, MO
The 9/11 Heroes Run is a community event held at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The event aims to unite the local community while honoring the individuals affected by the events of September 11th and those who have served the nation since that time. This includes veterans, active duty military, first responders, and families of the fallen.
Participants can choose from several categories centered around a 5K distance:
- 5K Run: Available for individual community members as well as active duty military and first responders.
- 5K Ruck: A division held in partnership with GORUCK that involves walking or running with a weighted rucksack.
The rucking division is based on training methods used by special forces. Those who register formally for the GORUCK division receive an exclusive patch. The event is designed to be inclusive, accommodating individuals and families of various fitness levels, whether they choose to run, walk, or ruck the course.
In addition to the athletic divisions, there are opportunities for community members to participate by volunteering during the event. The gathering serves to empower local service members and provide a space for community reflection and activation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
