9/11 Commemorative 5K Run/Walk
The City of Graham hosts the sixth annual 9/11 Commemorative 5K Run/Walk at the City Hall Campus. This community event is open to all participants and takes place rain or shine. The gathering serves as a commemorative occasion where attendees are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue.
The event features several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk
- First Responders Team Cup 5K
- Non-Competitive 1-Mile Run/Walk
- Fun Run
Specific to this event is the First Responders Team Cup, designed for teams of at least three members from fire, police, EMS, or military services. Medals are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in various age groups ranging from 10 and under to 60 and over.
In addition to the races, the event grounds include a Runner Services station in the fire bays, a Touch A Truck area, a blood drive, and a Park & Play Mobile Recreation area for families. The atmosphere is supported by games and music provided by a DJ. Lawn chairs are permitted on-site, and the organizers recommend carpooling for those traveling to the venue. A new route is planned for the 2026 edition.
All proceeds from the event are donated to Children of Fallen Heroes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
