8th Annual 5k Walk/Run for Overdose Awareness
This event is a timed 5K walk and run held in Shelton, Connecticut, beginning at Inline Plastics Corp near the Shelton Riverwalk. The event benefits BHcare's Alliance for Prevention & Wellness and is organized in association with F.A.D.E (Fighting Against Drugs Everywhere), an organization focused on education and awareness about drug overdose.
Registration details include an open period from April 6 to June 23 and a standard race fee of $40 plus any sign up fees. Participants who register before June 18 receive a complimentary T-shirt. Children age 10 and younger may register free of charge but do not receive a T-shirt. Day of registration is available for participants older than 10 for a $40 fee payable by cash or check and does not include a T-shirt.
At checkout there is an option to add a loved one’s name to an "In Memory of..." section on the back of the event shirt; the deadline to submit names is June 18 and organizers request first and last names to avoid duplication. Bib and T-shirt pick up is handled at the event registration desk on race day. The schedule includes pre-race introductions, the timed run/walk, and, immediately following the event, a featured speaker and a Candlelight Vigil.
