5k Run for Shelter - Reading
The 5K Run for Shelter is scheduled for October 3, 2026 at Gring's Mill Recreation Center, 2083 Tulpehocken Rd., Reading, PA 19610. The event is held on the Union Canal Trail and uses a turnaround course.
The course is described as flat and fast and passes the Berks Heritage Center. Trail surfaces include packed cinder and paved sections, with views of the Tulpehocken Creek.
Amenities include guaranteed shirts for early bird registrants, refreshments and snacks for finishers, free parking, a finish-line time clock, and instant results. The event is held rain or shine. There are no refunds and awards are not mailed. Results are posted the next business day.
Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in the following age brackets: 14 and under, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and over.
Entry fees list an early bird rate of $25 through September 4 which includes a shirt, and a $30 rate after that date while shirts last. Online registration is available; mailed entries and checks are accepted payable to Reading-Berks Association of REALTORS at 2201 Ridgewood Rd, Ste 350, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
