Event overview
The 5K on the Runway is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Road, Evansville, IN 47725. The event is presented by the Evansville Wartime Museum and benefits the Evansville P-47 Foundation, Inc. Race-day museum admission will be available at a special rate of $5 per person.

Race details and format
The 5K route runs on airport property along runways, taxiways, and ramps and passes the airport control tower and Airport Safety Department. Participants will be able to view the P-47 Thunderbolt and a 1943 Chrysler M4AF Sherman Tank on site. The Kid’s Dash is open to children ages 1 to 9; finishers receive a medal. The 5K field will be chip timed and official results will be posted online after the event. Overall male and female 5K winners receive first place trophies; first place medals are awarded in multiple age groups.
Registration, shirts and logistics
The 5K and 1-mile walk fees change over time; the Kid’s Dash fee is listed at $5 and includes a medal. Register by April 12 to guarantee shirt size; shirts are available while supplies last and cannot be guaranteed after April 22. Race-day registration and packet pickup are offered. Parking and shuttle service are provided from designated off-site locations; handicap parking is available at the museum with prior notification to the organizers. Following the event, EAA Chapter 21 will offer Young Eagles flights for children ages 8-17 with limited seats and prior sign-up required.
