Event Overview
The 5K on the Runway is an annual event held in Evansville, Indiana, taking place at the Evansville Wartime Museum and the Evansville Regional Airport. This event supports the P-47 Foundation and provides a unique course that utilizes active airport infrastructure. The 5K runners and walkers are chip timed by professional providers.
Course Details
The route begins at the Evansville Wartime Museum and extends onto the Evansville Regional Airport runways, taxiways, and ramps. Participants pass by several landmarks during the run, including the Air Traffic Control Tower and the Airport Safety Department. Notable historical displays along the path include the P-47 Thunderbolt, known as "Hoosier Spirit II," and a 1943 Chrysler M4AF Sherman Tank, titled "Rosie’s Revenge."

Additional Information
Registered participants receive an event t-shirt while supplies last and have access to discounted admission for the Evansville Wartime Museum. Post-race activities include award presentations for overall and age-group winners, as well as food and coffee vendors. Parking is situated at nearby off-site lots with a dedicated shuttle service provided to the museum grounds. All registered participants are also entered into a drawing for roundtrip flight vouchers.
