5K on the Greenway

5K on the Greenway is scheduled for October 3, 2026 in Mount Airy, NC and is hosted by Reeves Community Foundation. The event takes place at Riverside Park and uses the newest section of the Granite City Greenway, running along Lovill's Creek to the SouthData parking lot and back.

Distances offered include:

5K race and walk
1/2 mile fun run for children under 10

Participants of the 5K receive a custom finisher's medal. The 5K field is chip timed by Go! Sports Timing; overall awards are based on gun time and age group awards are based on chip time. Cash prizes are offered for overall male and female first through third places. Age division awards are given for multiple brackets including 10 and under, 11 to 13, 14 to 19, and decade brackets up to 70 and over. A team fitness challenge awards the fastest team based on the average time of the top five finishing team members; five finishing team members are required to be eligible.

Registration fees vary by category and registration date. Applicants registered by September 20 are guaranteed a long sleeve performance race shirt. All fees are non refundable and the event runs rain or shine. Packet pickup is available the day before at Mount Airy Parks and Recreation Reeves Community Center and on race day at Riverside Park.
