5K on the Greenway : Mount Airy, NC
5K on the Greenway takes place on October 3, 2026, in Mount Airy, North Carolina. The event is organized by the Reeves Community Foundation and uses a course on the Granite City Greenway.
The course starts at Riverside Park and follows the newest section of the Granite City Greenway along Lovill's Creek to the SouthData parking lot and back. The event offers timed results and a short fun run in addition to the main race.

All 5K participants receive a custom finisher's medal. The Sonker Stomper Challenge is an optional add on for an additional $10; participants stop at the turnaround to eat a warm bowl of Granny Ruth's Bakery sonker, then rejoin the course. The fastest male and female to complete the eating challenge and finish the race receive a $25 gift card to Granny Ruth's.
Registration fees vary by age and registration date, with early registration rates and guaranteed long sleeve performance shirts for those registered by September 20. All fees are non refundable and the event runs rain or shine. The 5K is chip timed by Go! Sports Timing; overall awards use gun time and age group awards use chip time.
Packet pickup and race day registration occur at Mount Airy Parks and Recreation/Reeves Community Center and Riverside Park. Shower and dressing rooms are available at the Reeves Community Center at 113 S. Renfro Street. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
