Event Overview
The 5K 4 The Kidz is a community event taking place on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Rowden Park in Lapeer, Michigan. This is its second annual edition. The event features three formats: an in-person 5K Run, an in-person 5K Walk, and a Virtual option. All proceeds benefit the Kiwanis Inclusive Playground, a future universally accessible and nature-based play space in the community. The course passes by the future location of this playground.
Course Details
The 5 km course starts and finishes near the pavilion at Rowden Park. Participants travel along a one-mile trail within the park, exit onto Pine Street to go through Lapeer's downtown area, and then re-enter the park on Pine Street to complete the loop. Parking is available at Rowden Park and in designated lots along M-24 (N. Lapeer Road).
Registration and Inclusions
Registration is priced at $35 for adults (15 years and older) and $20 for youth (14 years and younger), with higher prices on the day of the event. Registration includes a race packet with bib and pins, an event t-shirt, a finisher medal, post-race refreshments and snacks, and timed results available shortly after finishing. Candid photos are embedded to the participant's bib number the following week. Overall and age group awards are offered for the run and walk categories; virtual participants are not eligible for timed awards.

Packet pickup and late registration open at the Rowden Park pavilion on race day. The event is timed by Newton Timing. The run starts first, followed by the walk shortly after. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
