Event details
The B.A.D Santa Trail 5K is a run/walk held at Addison Oaks County Park in Leonard, Michigan. The course combines dirt and blacktop trails with rolling hills. Organizers state the course will not be plowed or salted, and trail conditions can include snow, ice, or mud; the event continues in all weather conditions.
Participants receive chip timing, race photos, and post-race snacks. Registration includes a choice of one Bad Santa swag item while supplies last. Youth entry for ages 14 and younger uses a separate pricing tier and does not include the swag item; a special youth giveaway is planned.
Packet pickup is available race day only at the Lodge. After the event there is indoor space in the Lodge and a fire pit at the finish area, with hot cocoa and cookies offered afterward. The event hosts a giving tree donation drive: new or gently used winter outerwear items for women, men, and children are accepted and will be donated to a local nonprofit; each donated item earns a raffle ticket.
For traction on the unplowed course, recommended footwear options include trail running shoes, hiking shoes, or traction devices such as YakTrax. Park entry is free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
