3-2-1 Dash for Down Syndrome 5K & Fun Run

The 3-2-1 Dash for Down Syndrome is a community running event held in Charlotte, North Carolina at 8840 Blakeney Professional Dr. The event includes a standard 5K and a separate Kids Fun Run. After the standard 5K finish line, runners continue to an extra finish line to represent the extra copy of the 21st chromosome found in people with Down syndrome. Spectators with Down syndrome cheer the extra dash.

The event also features a post-race celebration that includes food, games, bounce houses, and other entertainment. All 5K finishers receive a custom finisher medal. The 5K offers awards for the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female finishers in each age category.

Registration benefits the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte, an approved 501(c)(3) family support organization. Registration includes a soft-style 5K shirt, with an optional long-sleeve performance shirt available for an additional fee. Shirt sizes are only guaranteed for those who register by March 1. The Dash is described as a local springtime tradition and is in its fourteenth year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
