26 x 1-Mile Marathon Relay

The 26 x 1-Mile Marathon Relay is a team relay held at The Woodlands in Philadelphia. Teams of 13, or as few as 6, compete collectively to record the fastest marathon time by running a series of one-mile legs around a looped course. The course is a one mile loop with a dirt path and some paved road sections and runs around the Woodland's Stables.

Teams enter the grounds through the large gate across from the trolley portal and follow posted signs to the event area. Team areas may include tents and snacks brought by participants; grills and other on-site cooking are not permitted.

Each team provides its own baton, which may be any object the team chooses. Teams also select a runner, different from their last mile runner, to run the final 0.2 miles that complete the official marathon for the team. That final runner carries a torch made by the team; the torch should not be on fire.

The Woodlands is described as a 54 acre landscape combining elements of an English pleasure garden and a rural cemetery, and it is a designated National Historic Landmark District that serves educational and community uses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
