20 Along the Forth
20 Along the Forth is a long-distance running event held in Edinburgh. The course covers a distance of 20 miles, making it a preparation event for participants training for spring marathons. The route starts in Cramond and explores various landmarks and natural landscapes in the surrounding area.
The course features a mix of terrains, including roads, woodland trails, and paths. Participants run through the Dalmeny Estate and cross the Forth Road Bridge. The geography of the route is undulating with several hilly sections, particularly in the final miles. The course also includes three sets of stairs that runners must navigate.
The event utilizes a staggered start with three waves to manage the flow of participants. Regular aid stations providing fluids are located along the route, though participants are also encouraged to carry their own hydration. Facilities at the start and finish include toilets and a registration area.
Upon completing the distance, participants receive a medal and have access to a post-event buffet including sandwiches, cakes, and hot drinks. The event is open to runners of different experience levels and is organized by Blast Running. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
