20 Along the Forth

20 Along the Forth is a 20 mile marathon training run that starts at Cargilfield School in Barnton, Edinburgh and follows a route through Dalmeny Estate, South Queensferry and across the Forth Road Bridge before returning to Barnton. The course surface is roughly 75% tarmac and 25% runnable estate roads, with about 1,150 ft of overall undulation; the event information notes there are no big hills. There are no road closures for the route.

The route is fully marked and marshalled. Water stations are provided at miles 5.5 and 14.5. Wave starts are used to organise participants into appropriate pacing groups. Entry is charged at £26.50 and includes an optional charity donation; the event supports The MS Society Scotland. The stated minimum age for the 20 mile event is 17 and an in person pasta and film evening is offered the night before for an additional fee.

Organisers provide practical route information and on-course support for runners preparing for spring marathons or longer races. The event is presented as a training specific run that combines on-road and estate road surfaces and includes basic aid station provision.
