20 Along the Forth - Event overview
20 Along the Forth is a 20-mile marathon training run held on Saturday 21 March 2026. The event is for runners aged 17 and over and has a maximum field of 1,000 entrants. Start and registration take place at Cargilfield School, 45 Gamekeeper’s Road, Barnton, Edinburgh. Entry is listed at £26.50, which includes an optional £1 charity donation. The event partners with The MS Society Scotland and was started in 2019 as a fundraiser and awareness event. A pasta and movie evening is scheduled for the night before the race, on 20 March, offered for £7.
Route and logistics
The route starts at Cargilfield School, passes through Dalmeny Estate, goes into South Queensferry and crosses the Forth Road Bridge before returning to Barnton. Surface composition is about 75% tarmac and 25% runnable estate roads, with approximately 1,150 ft of overall undulation; organisers state there are no big hills. There are no road closures for the event. The course is fully marked and marshalled. Water stations are provided at miles 5.5 and 14.5. A Strava route is available for reference.
