Event Overview
The Luau 5K and 10K is a sanctioned road running event taking place in Gainesville, Florida. Part of the US Road Running Race Series, this competition is open to the public and does not require a club membership to participate. The event features two primary distances held on a recurring course within the local park area.
Course Information
The race utilizes an out-and-back course layout measuring approximately 0.78 miles for a single leg or 1.56 miles for a complete out-and-back loop. Participants in the different distances complete a specific number of laps to reach their total mileage:
- 5K runners complete the out-and-back course two times.
- 10K runners complete the out-and-back course four times.
A strict time limit of 2 hours is enforced for both the 5K and 10K distances. The course surface consists of established paths at the SW 41st Place location.
Race Logistics and Recognition
Registration for the event is managed exclusively online via RunSignup. There is no option for on-site registration on the day of the race. Packet pickup is conducted at the event location starting 30 minutes before the official start.
All finishers receive a themed medal upon completion of their race. While the event is competitive, it also includes a social element where participants may compete for a best costume award.
