Red Dirt Ultra - 11th Edition
Red Dirt Ultra takes place in Provencal, Louisiana, within Kisatchie National Forest on the Sandstone and Caroline Dormon trail system. The course runs through longleaf pine ecosystems and remote backcountry with sandy ridgelines, rolling pine hills, creek crossings, and stretches alongside Kisatchie Bayou. Runners will encounter loose and hard packed sand, rocks, mud, water crossings, long climbs, flowing descents, and extended runnable sections.
The trails are multi use and shared with ATV riders and equestrians, producing an ever changing trail surface that requires attention and adaptability. Aid stations are staffed by experienced ultrarunners and offer well stocked supplies; vegan options are available at the finish and a mid loop aid station. Volunteers support runners throughout the event.
Distances are approximate. All races share a midnight cutoff. The 100K covers about 66 miles with roughly 6,000 feet of elevation gain and allows 18 hours to finish, implying an average pace near 16 minutes per mile including stops.
