NYCRUNS Frozen Bonsai 5K
NYCRUNS Frozen Bonsai 5K is a 5K road race held in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. The course is just under one full loop of the park and finishes with a final sprint up Center Drive. All NYCRUNS courses are USATF-certified.
The Festival Area is located in the Nethermead and is the site for bib pick-up, shirt distribution, bag check, and other participant services. The finish line on Center Drive returns runners to the Festival Area. Start corrals are pace-based and assigned by letter (AA through F); corral assignments appear on the bib and the corrals are located on Well House Drive.
On-course and festival amenities include bag check with a single clear bag provided (18" x 24"), portable bathrooms, water on course, and post-race refreshments such as water, Gatorade, an apple, and a bagel with schmear. Participant shirts are distributed on race day only and sizes are not guaranteed. A finisher medal is awarded to those who complete the race. Race photos are available as a free download for one eligible image, with additional photo packages offered.
Bibs are available for pick up in the Festival Area on race day with a unique QR code; NYCRUNS members may opt to have bibs mailed at no additional cost, while non-members can add mailed bib service for a fee. Mailing requires registration 20 days or more before the event and a U.S. mailing address.
Mass transit is the recommended way to get to the race; the closest subway stations are the B/Q at Prospect Park and the F/G at 15th St-Prospect Park. Bus stops and Citi Bike stations are nearby and parking is limited around the park. Handcycle and Wheelchair Division athletes are welcome and should indicate their division in the NYCRUNS Dashboard.
Results are emailed and posted online. Awards are presented to the top three male, female, and non-binary overall finishers by gun time, with age-group awards by net time across standard age brackets. NYCRUNS members receive a 10% discount and other member benefits; registration closes the day before the event or earlier if capacity is reached.
