Scarecrow Scramble Nighttime 5K Run / Walk
The Scarecrow Scramble is an annual nighttime running event held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Lisle Community Park, 1825 Short Street, Lisle. The event includes a USATF certified 5K course that winds through slightly hilly park paths gently lit by luminaria for safety. Proceeds support the Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation Scholarship Fund and the Lisle Teens with Character program.
Races offered:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Youth Run (1/2 mile)
- Tot Dash (50-yard dash)
Registration is online only. Participants who register by September 13 are guaranteed a race hoodie for the 5K and Youth Run and pay a reduced fee. All registration fees are final and non refundable. Every participant must sign a waiver. If the in-person event is canceled for severe weather, participants may run virtually and will still receive their race packet and shirt.
Race packets include one food ticket and one drink ticket for each participant; alcoholic beverages are available only to those 21 and older. Tot Dash registrants do not receive a shirt. Packet pick up is available Friday, October 2 at the Lisle Recreation Center and on race day at the Lisle Community Park Bandshell. Awards include plaques for overall and masters winners and medals for top three in each age group. General guidelines note that costumes are encouraged, pets are not allowed on course, strollers are permitted only for walkers and must start at the back, and parents are responsible for supervising children.
