About the race
The Magnetic Marathon Series is a boutique set of multi day running events held on The Strand in Townsville, Queensland. Events use an AIMS Certified course based at The Surf Club (Townsville Picnic Bay Surf Lifesaving Club), 80 The Strand, North Ward QLD 4810. Facilities include several drinking water fountains along the course and toilets near the start and finish area beside the basketball court. The series specialises in multi day marathon formats held during the mild Far North Queensland winter when average daily temperatures are around 25 degrees Celsius.
The Magnetic Dirty Dozen is scheduled for 9 to 20 June 2027 and incorporates the Magnetic Ten in Ten marathon series, which runs 11 to 20 June and offers both marathon and half marathon distance options. Entries open later in 2026. Events carry recognition from Guinness World Records and the Australian 100 Club. There is a daily cut off of 8 hours and local support is provided along the course.
