Brisbane Valley Rail Trail 100s : event overview
The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail 100s are a set of multi-distance trail events held on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Routes use the BVRT corridor between Yarraman and Brassall/Ipswich and include the following distances:
- 200 mile
- 100 mile
- 100 km
- 50 mile
- Marathon
- Half marathon
The 100 mile event starts at the Yarraman Heritage Centre and follows the BVRT to Brassall, finishing at the Ipswich Grammar School playing fields. The 200 mile event runs the same corridor as an out-and-back between Ipswich Grammar School and Yarraman. Shorter distances join the main route at intermediate towns including Harlin, Toogoolawah, Coominya and Fernvale.
The course is signed from start to finish with coordinate markers every kilometre. Checkpoints and start/finish locations are established along the trail at towns such as Blackbutt, Linville, Toogoolawah, Esk, Coominya and Fernvale. All participants must carry mandatory kit; pacers are permitted from specified checkpoints and must be registered and carry their own kit. Water is available at all checkpoints and each participant must carry at least one water bottle.
GPS route files and alternate deviations for sections such as Esk are provided and the organisers strongly recommend using a GPS app to follow the route. Race crew and officials manage safety and withdrawals; medical decisions by event staff may result in withdrawal from the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
