I RUN the RIVER with Active CB
I RUN the RIVER with Active CB is a community running festival held at Tasker Park on the Cooks River Path in Canterbury. The event offers multiple measured courses that use a largely flat, clearly marked riverside cycleway with paved paths and short single-file gravel sections. Each course starts and finishes on grass at Tasker Park and includes multiple footbridge crossings.
Distances:
- 3 km Crayv Family Fun Run
- 7 km scenic circuit along the Cooks River cycleway
- 14 km two laps of the 7 km circuit
- 21.1 km three laps of the 7 km circuit
Entry rules state all participants must be registered to be on course; entrants for the half marathon must be 16 years or older. Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult. The 21.1 km field must complete the distance within three hours to receive marshal support and have results recorded.
Event facilities at the RUN HUB include on-course water stations, a gear drop area, check-in and bib collection where timing chips are issued, and toilets and first aid. Race bibs include a tear-off baggage tag. Limited parking is available at the nearby leisure centre and surrounding streets. The major sponsor is Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club. The event proceeds in rain unless the course is unsafe due to flooding. A professional photographer will capture the event and photos will be available after the race.
