Zoo Run
The Zoo Run is an annual sports event hosted by the Fort Worth Zoo to support local and international conservation and education projects. The event features a course that traverses the Zoo's main paths and the surrounding residential neighborhoods. Participants of all ages can choose to run, walk, or jog the route.
Available event distances include:
- 5K (offered as both timed and untimed)
- 1K Fun Run
The 5K route is a USA Track and Field (USATF) certified course. For safety reasons, the 5K course has a time limit of 1 hour and 15 minutes, after which the course is closed to participants. Runners are organized at the start line by pace, with designated areas for elite, competitive, and casual participants.
Registration includes several benefits, such as a commemorative T-shirt and a digital runner bag containing offers from sponsors. Additionally, each registered participant receives a admission ticket to the Fort Worth Zoo, which remains valid through December 31, 2026. Individuals may register independently, or groups of at least 10 people can form a team. The event also features an animal outreach presentation and an awards ceremony following the races.
The race is held rain or shine. For the safety of participants, strollers are permitted but must be positioned at the back of the starting heat. Bicycles, inline skates, and pets are not allowed on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
