Event Format
There are two ways to participate. An in-person 5K race takes place on a course that starts outside the zoo's front gates, loops twice through Grant Park, and then goes inside Zoo Atlanta before finishing there. There is also a virtual 5K option where participants can complete the distance on their own time and location by May 11, 2026.
Key Details
The in-person race is an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race qualifier. Registration is online only, with no mail-in or race-day registration available. The event is described as rain-or-shine. Strollers, baby joggers, and pets are not permitted on the in-person race course.
In-person registration includes a bib with chip timing, a unisex race t-shirt, a finisher's medal, post-race snacks, free digital race photos, and same-day general admission to Zoo Atlanta after 9:30 a.m. Virtual registration includes a t-shirt and finisher's medal mailed to the participant.
A limited number of spectator tickets are available for access to the finish line area and an after-party inside the zoo. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 7:00 AM on race day for parking.
