Zombie Backyard Ultra - Pelham, AL
Zombie Backyard Ultra is a Last Zombie Standing backyard ultra held at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham, AL (200 Terrace Drive). The course is a 4.167 mile loop (4 miles 880 feet) with roughly 500 ft of elevation gain and loss per loop. Runners may set up a tent or canopy with supplies at the start area. Limited aid is available at the start/finish.
The event follows the backyard format: each loop starts exactly one hour after the previous loop and each loop must be completed within that hour. A warning bell sounds at 3, 2, and 1 minutes before each start; all competitors must start at the bell and be in the starting corral at that time. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except for restrooms. No personal aid is allowed during a loop and no non-competitors are permitted on the course. Artificial aids such as trekking poles are not allowed. Slower runners must allow passes.
The race is capped at 100 entrants. The winner is the last individual to complete a loop; if no runner completes more loops than others, there is no winner. All other participants receive results for distance covered. The event is organized by Zombie Trail Races. Registration closes Aug 24, 2026 at 11:59 PM CT and the listed entry fee is USD 107.68.
