Trail Events at Christopher Creek
The Zane Grey Highline Trail Runs take place in Christopher Creek, Arizona, on the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. This annual event, celebrating its 36th year in 2026, centers its activities at the Mountain Meadow Ranch. The courses utilize maintained sections of the Highline Trail and avoid the Hell's Gate burn area, providing participants with views of the Mogollon Rim.
The event offers two distinct ultramarathon distances:
- 50 miles: Features 86% singletrack trails and more than 6,500 feet of climbing.
- 50 km: Consists of over 90% singletrack trails with 4,500 feet of total elevation gain.
The routes involve multiple stream crossings and follow technical mountain terrain. Both races start and finish at the same 70-acre property. The courses are designed to highlight the natural landscape of the Mogollon Rim while utilizing the traditional trail systems of the region. Participants navigate through sections of high-elevation singletrack that characterize the Arizona high country.
