Mogollon Monster - Pine, AZ
The Mogollon Monster is a trail running event on the Mogollon Rim near Pine, Arizona. The race weekend includes two distances:
- 100 Mile
- 42K
The 100 mile race is a point to point course that runs along the Rim and finishes in the town of Pine. The route climbs the Rim on multiple occasions, with sustained high elevation between about 5,200 and 8,000 feet. Total elevation gain for the 100 mile course is listed at approximately 15,900 feet and some sections include very steep grades and technical single track. Notable technical sections include the Highline Trail, Donahue, and Myrtle trails.
Aid stations are staffed and stocked with water, ice, electrolyte drinks and a mix of salty and sweet foods. The 100 mile distance requires a prior completion of a 50 mile race and includes a volunteer service requirement of eight hours prior to race day. Crewing and pacer access are allowed at some crew zones for the 100 mile course; the 42K does not permit crews or pacers. The event operates multiple shuttle and parking arrangements for start and finish logistics and provides drop bag locations for the 100 mile race.
