Mogollon Monster

The Mogollon Monster is a trail race held on the Mogollon Rim near Pine, Arizona. It features two events over a weekend:

  • 100 Mile
  • 42K

The course runs along and across the Rim, with multiple climbs onto the rim and sustained sections on top of it. Elevations on the course reach about 7,900 to 8,000 feet and do not drop below roughly 5,200 feet. The 100 Mile course includes repeated rim climbs and technical singletrack sections such as the Highline, Donahue, Myrtle, and Promontory areas. Key statistics list total elevation gain for the 100 Mile around 15,900 feet and a maximum elevation near 7,912 feet. The 42K covers roughly 26.7 miles with about 4,554 feet of gain.

Entry, support and rules

The 100 Mile entry requires prior completion of at least a 50 mile race and also carries a pre-race volunteer service requirement of eight hours or an approved donation alternative. Crews and pacers are allowed for the 100 Mile at designated crew zones; the 42K has no crew or pacer access. The 100 Mile serves as a qualifying race for the Hardrock 100 and the Western States 100 (qualifying year noted in event materials).
