Mogollon Monster : Mogollon Rim, Pine, Arizona
The Mogollon Monster is a trail event near Pine, Arizona that offers two distances:
- 100 Mile (point to point, roughly 102.3 miles)
- 42K (approximately 26.7 miles)
Both courses run along the Mogollon Rim and move between forest and desert ecosystems. The 100 mile course stays between about 5,200 and 7,900 feet in elevation and includes multiple climbs on and off the Rim, with roughly 15,900 feet of total ascent listed in the race key statistics. The 42K course lists about 4,554 feet of elevation gain and a maximum elevation near 7,480 feet.
The terrain includes single track, forest service roads, steep climbs and descents, and sections described as technical such as the Highline, Donahue, Myrtle and Promontory corridors. Aid stations are staffed and stocked with water, ice, electrolyte drinks, snacks and basic supplies; Skratch Labs products provide chews and hydration mix. Drop bags are available at specified 100 mile locations including Fish Hatchery, Buck Springs and Geronimo.
Race logistics note a point to point format with shuttle and parking at an Old Pine lot, limited crew access on top of the Rim, one crew vehicle allowed per runner, and pacer and crew rules that differ between distances. The 100 mile distance requires prior completion of at least a 50 mile race and an eight hour volunteer service requirement or donation alternative.
