About the race
ZACH MACH River Run is a trail running event held at Finch Hatton, starting and finishing from ZACH MACH HQ at Finch Hatton RSL. It is part of the five-event "off the beaten track" Trail Run Series and uses privately owned trails with access granted once a year.
The course options are:
- 5km short course, an out-and-back with river crossing, rainforest sections and cane paddocks.
- 12km long course, routed across private farmland and rainforest with creek crossings, mud, sand and rocky sections.
The event is held on mixed terrain that includes single track, creek crossings and privately owned farm tracks. Organisers provide marshals on course, a safety vehicle with first aid, two on-course water and lolly stations, finish line water and athlete photos included in the entry fee. Prize money is offered for the top three finishers in each distance and for junior categories on the short course.
Mandatory gear for the longer run includes two snake bandages, a fully charged phone in a waterproof bag, race plate with timing chip, and personal nutrition and hydration. Toilets are available at the start and finish area. The course crosses private properties and access outside the event is prohibited.
