About the race
Finch Hatton Flowing Trails is Event 3 of a five-part Trail Run Series held at the Finch Hatton MTB Trails in Mackay’s Pioneer Valley. The event offers three looped distances that all start and finish at the Finch Hatton MTB Trail Head and return to the start every 6 km, allowing competitors to top up water and nutrition on each lap. The course uses a mix of MTB trails, fire roads and access tracks and is marked with signage, arrows and caution tape.
Distances:
- 18 km long course with three loops and varied ascents and descents.
- 12 km mid course with two loops on mixed trails and fire roads.
- 6 km short course following the G’day G’day access trail and nearby single track.
Mandatory gear must be carried for the duration of the run and includes a compression bandage, a fully charged phone, a whistle, race bib, water and nutrition. Facilities at the start/finish include toilets and showers, with one water station available at the start/finish passed every 6 km. Prize money is allocated for the top three in each distance and totals over $700 across categories. Entries include athlete photos and insurance. The organiser permits running on these trails for this single event day each year and reserves the right to modify, reschedule or cancel the event.
