Event overview
The 30th Annual YWCA Race Against Racism and Diversity Day takes place in January 2026 at the YWCA Phyllis Wheatley Center, 124 South Cruze Street, Knoxville, TN. The event combines a community 5K with Diversity Day activities. A virtual 5K option runs between January 10 and January 17, 2026. Proceeds support the YWCA Knoxville and the Tennessee Valley to fund programs at the Phyllis Wheatley Center.

Course and race services
The 5K course starts at the Phyllis Wheatley Center, proceeds north on S Cruze Street, turns right onto Linden Avenue to the intersection with N Castle Street, returns on Linden Avenue, then turns left on N Cruze Street back to the center. The certified 5K course is eligible for RaceJoy coverage. Virtual participants may run or walk a 5K on a course of their choosing during the virtual window, use RaceJoy to track and upload results, and claim an event shirt at packet pickup. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards.
Registration, shirts and rules
Online registration is available and day-of registration is offered. To guarantee a chosen shirt size, registration should be completed by December 28, 2025. Giveaway shirts are Gildan 50/50 short sleeve. No racers with strollers or dogs are allowed. A referral program refunds $5 after five sign-ups via a participant's personal URL.
Awards
Custom medals will be awarded for 1st place male and female overall, master, grandmaster, and veteran. Medals are also awarded 1st through 3rd male and female in age groups ranging from children to 70+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
