YRTC Spring Races
The YRTC Spring Races take place in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, starting and ending at Yough River Park. These events are organized by the YRTC to support the maintenance of 23 miles of the Great Allegheny Passage Trail in Fayette County. The races are held annually on the Saturday before Easter Sunday.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10 Mile
- 10K
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
The course is located on the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail and features an out and back layout. The terrain is flat and fast, concluding with a slight downhill finish into the park. For safety and timing, the Half Marathon and 10 Mile participants start first, followed by the other distances a few minutes later.
On-course support includes water and performance drinks. After finishing, participants have access to fruit, cookies, and various beverages. Results are printed as each race concludes and are also published online. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each race category, and random prizes are distributed based on race registrations. Registration occurs at the Historical Society pavilion within Yough River Park, with parking primarily available along North 3rd Street.
