Event Overview
The 19th YPD Blue 5K Run / Walk For A Reason is held in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. The event starts and finishes at the Skipper Chowder House on South Shore Drive. It features two primary events: a 5k run/walk and a Kids Run 12 and Under.
Distances and Registration
- 5k: This is the main event.
- Kids Run 12 and Under: A shorter run for children.
Registration opens on-site on race day. Early online registration is available with a price of $25 for the adult 5k and $10 for the kids' run. After a certain date, the adult 5k price increases to $30 on race day. A commemorative T-shirt is available for purchase separately.
Event Schedule and Logistics
Bib and T-shirt pickup is available on the Friday before the event at the Yarmouth Police Department in West Yarmouth and on the Saturday before at Marathon Sports in South Yarmouth. On race day, participants can pick up items starting at 9:00 AM.
The kids' race is scheduled before the main 5k event. After the races, a lunch is provided to all registered participants, courtesy of the Skipper restaurant. Non-registered guests can purchase lunch tickets.
Awards and Activities
Awards are given to the first overall male and female finishers. Age group awards are also presented for the top three men and women in multiple categories. A team competition, the "First Responders Cup," is open to groups of three or more employees from police, fire, or EMS departments. An additional family activity, a Fitness Challenge, is also part of the event.
