Event overview
The 11th Annual First Day 5K is scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the Sandwich Recreation Department, 34 Quaker Meetinghouse Rd, Sandwich, MA. The event is an annual New Year’s Day tradition that raises funds for the Sandwich Recreation Department Jan Souza Scholarship fund to help offset program costs for children.
Race details and provisions
Onsite registration is available on race day. A shirt deadline is listed as December 7. Walkers are welcome. Dogs are not allowed; the event organizer can be contacted about participation with a service animal.
Entry categories and fees
Registration is offered in the following categories with listed fees:
- Senior (70+): $22.60 to $28.25
- Adult (18+): $33.90 to $39.55
- Student (age 11-17): $28.25 to $33.90
- Youth (10 & Under): $22.60 to $28.25
Awards
Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers, plus first place in these age groups: 10 and under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
