12th Annual First Day 5K

The First Day 5K is a community road race held on January 1, 2027 in Sandwich. The event uses local streets and begins and finishes at the Sandwich Recreation Department, 34 Quaker Meeting House Road, with the course running through Oak Crest Cove and along Route 130 and Greenville Drive. The course also includes Woodvue Road, Bramble Bush Drive and Farrell Drive before returning to Oak Crest Cove.

Registration options include online and on-site entry with listed fees for adults, students age 11 to 18, and children 10 and under. A shirt deadline is noted as December 7. Race day registration and bib pickup are handled at the Sandwich Recreation Department and there are no pickup times available prior to January 1.

Awards are given overall for first through third place male and female and there are age-group awards that begin with 10 and under and continue through older adult categories. Walkers are welcome. Dogs are not allowed on the race course. Volunteers receive a complimentary registration to a future race. Race proceeds benefit the Sandwich Recreation Department Jan Souza Scholarship Fund.
