5K Your Ways
5K Your Ways is held at Crawford County Forest Preserve, 5886 E. 1050th Ave., Robinson, Illinois. The event offers multiple course options and a short kids run.
Distances:
- 3.1 miles asphalt course option
- 3.1 miles dirt trail course option
- 0.3 miles kids fun run
All 5K participants start together, split onto their chosen course, and merge again at the finish. The asphalt course includes about 200 yards of gravel, with part of that section uphill, which could be difficult with strollers. Dirt trail conditions depend on weather; if the dirt trails cannot be used all participants will use the asphalt trails. Organizers ask that pets remain at home during the race.
Proceeds from the race go to the NOW (Nutrition on Weekends) program covering all four Crawford County programs. That program provides meals to at-risk children when the school system is not available, such as on weekends and during the summer.
Awards include prizes for top male and female dirt trail winners and top male and female asphalt trail winners. Medals are awarded for first place in each age group: 17 and under, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, and 65 and over. Children in the kids fun run receive a finisher medal and a T shirt.
Early packet pickup and late registration take place on October 2 at the forest preserve shelter. Race day packet pickup and late registration take place on October 3 at the forest preserve cabin. Late registration fee is $30 cash or check only. Online registration ends September 27 and the guaranteed T shirt cutoff is September 14.
